    Americana Views—continued. 57: NEW YORK. - MAP AND VIEW Novi Belgiit Novaeque Angliae Nec Non Partis Verginiae Tabula multis in locis emendata per Nicolaum Visscher. Also early inset view of New York, “ Nieuw Amsterdam op t eylant Manhattans.”’ This view has been given the date of 1690 by Asher in a list of the Maps and Charts of New Netherland, from which the following is quoted : ‘About 1690 Nicolas Visscher retouched the old plate of N. J. Visscher. He has added all the emendations of Montanus and Allardt, and also the city of Philadelphia, and the name of the state of Pennsylvania. Some names, for instance—Nuieu Casteel, one of the names of Fort Chustina—are to be found on no map but his. He has retained the old view (circa 1656) of New -Amsterdam and has engraved the title upon the shield which forms part of the ornament.” Size 1834 by 22 inches, with margins. Curca 1690. sf3e.
