![1051. Blue glazed steatite Scarab, faded to white, of type A 3. On the base is rudely cut a sphinx couchant, before a cartouche containing the prenomen of THOTHMES III, over a demi-cartouche, with the signs ^ (f°r **^1 )• XIXth dynasty, or later. Length, f in. [No. 46880.] 1052. Blue-green glazed steatite Scarab, of type A 3-4, on the base of which is cut a royal sphinx, couchant, and holding a cartouche containing the prenomen of Thothmes III ; above his back is inscribed “Good God, Lord of the Two Lands,” J N(sic) ; which could below is a half-cartouche containing the inscription — mean, “ Horus is king for ever” (an erroneous correction of the meaningless of 1051). Rough work. Chipped. XIXth dynasty, or later. Length, f in. [No. 16775.] 1053. Glazed steatite Hedgehog Scaraboid, faded to brown, inscribed with the prenomen of Thothmes III, in a cartouche, between two maat-feathers ; above is a sphinx, couchant with the signs J, and below is a neb. About XXIInd dynasty (?). Length, § in. [No. 47042.] 1054. Glazed steatite rectangular Plaque, faded to white. O sphinx, couchant, with disk and uraeus ; above is a protecting winged reverse is rudely cut the prenomen of THOTHMES III in the form About XIXth dynasty (?). Length, f in. n the obverse is cut a uraeus. On the between two uraei. [No. 48910.] 1055. Glazed steatite Scarab, faded to white, of type A 7, in original electrum setting with braid border. On the base is a royal sphinx, couchant, above a label containing the signs ^ ^ , “ Horus-like Men- KHEPER-Ra”: above the sphinx are the signs J, “Good God,” before him is and behind is a protecting hawk. XIXth-XXIInd dynasty. Length, -j-i- in. [No. 47125.] 1056. Glazed steatite Scarab, faded to brown, of type A 6, deeply set in a heavy gold mount, with a rounded silver rim, much oxydized, as the bezel of a ring. On the base is inscribed the prenomen of Thothmes III, within a cartouche, above a sphinx, couchant, wearing the double crown, below which are figures of Taurt and a winged Nile-god (?), standing opposite each other, with the sign “protection,” between them. Fine work. XVIIIth dynasty, or later. Length, 1 in. [No. 17589.] 1057. Blue-green glazed steatite Scarab, of type A 3, on the base of which is cut a figure of a king, wearing helmet and uraeus, standing between two uraei, whose tails join beneath his feet, and upholding the heaven f=^, above which is a royal sphinx, couchant. By the king is inscribed “Good God, Lord of the Two Lands,” and by the sphinx, O v^y, “ Men-kheper-Ra (Thothmes III), Lord of the Two Lands.” '~~r* XVIIIth dynasty. Length, in. Petrie: Hist.
