In 1951, 74 were qualified and 2 received training. In 1952, 69 were qualified and 2 received training. In 1953, 70 were qualified and no further training was required. On 31st December, 1953, there were 40 cars in use by midwives. The following table shows the number of sets of apparatus for he administration of analgesia in use by midwives at the end of each rear, also the number of cases in which gas and air, or pethidine was kdministered by midwives in domiciliary practice during the year :— 1949. 1950. 1951. 1952. 1953.
