![My Committee having been acquainted with this at their last meeting were of opinion that, notwithstanding what took place, it might, perhaps, strengthen your hands if such expressions of public opinion as this were forwarded, and they desire me to ask for your advice. If you deem it useless to send the Memorial, can you suggest any other action the Association might profitably take, with a view of effecting the end desired. I may add that this Association could probably influence some other organisations to support their action. In case you approve of a memorial, kindly say whether you think it desirable to send one now, on tuberculosis alone, to the President of the Local Government Board, or to Mr. Chaplin, in preference to Mr. Ritchie.—I am, sir, your obedient servant, Fred Scott, Secretary. Dear Sir,—I write to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th inst., and the Memorial contained in it, which I will bring to the notice of Mr. Ritchie, and at the same time to thank you for them. With regard to your proposal to strengthen my hands, I would suggest that your Association and kindred Associations might with advantage send petitions to the House of Commons in support of the Infectious Disease Prevention Bill, and that you might usefully send Memorials to the President of the Board of Agriculture, and petitions to the House of Commons upon the subject of tuberculosis.— Yours faithfully, Lees Knowles.
