![[From Mr. Lees Knowles, M.P.] House of Commons, April 21st, 1890. Dear Sir,—I write to thank you for your letter of the 19th instant, and its enclosures, and through you the Manchester and Salford Sanitary Association, for the valuable support which they are giving me in passing the infectious Disease (Prevention) Bill.—Yours faithfully, Lees Knowles. Fred Scott, Esq. C.-THE INFECTIOUS DISEASES PREVENTION ACT. To the Worshipful the Mayor, Aldermen, and Councillors of the City of Manchester. The Memorial of the Manchester and Salford Sanitary Association Respectfully Sheweth,—That “The Infectious Disease (Prevention) Act, 1890,” has not yet been adopted by the Manchester Corporation. That it contains certain provisions, especially relating to milk supply, which are, in the opinion of your Memorialists, essential to the more effective protection of the public against infectious disease. Your Memorialists therefore respectfully pray that you will cause the proceedings specified in section 3 of the Act to be taken forthwith, in order that the inhabitants of Manchester may, with the least possible delay, obtain the increased security against infectious disease afforded by the measure. And your Memorialists will ever pray, &c. (Signed) Arthur Ransome, M.D., M.A., F.R.S., Chairman. | Hon. Secs. Fred Scott, Secretary. 44, John Dalton Street, Manchester, November 13th, 1890. [A Memorial in similar terms was sent to the Worshipful the Mayor, Aldermen, and Councillors of the Borough of Salford.]](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30085342_0030.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
