I proceed now, to the proper objed of this paper; in profecuting which, I beg to be underftood, as confidering fcarlatina, and fcarlatina anginofa, to be the fame difeafe, ufmg always the term fcarlatina, as including both. And thus, in compliance with common cuftom, and for a reafon which will after- wards appear, I fhall treat of this modification of the difeafe, feparately from cynanche maligna, of which I lhall take diftinft notice, in the fequel.
