![-12- WATER SUPPLY • A mains water supply is readily available throughout the area? the Borough Council being a constituent member of the Wisbech and District Water Board. The supply is derived from shallow boro holes situate at Ivlarham and Boechamwoll in Norfolk. At times of peak demand it is necessary to draw water from the River Nar at Marham. Apart from the odd dwelling awaiting clearance9 all dwellings within the built up part of the town have an internal piped water supply0 Elsewhere in the rural area of the Borough5 five families prefer to use private water supplies drawn from we11 or rainwator butt* .. The Council reconsidered a proposal to add fluoride to the water supply9 but again following protracted discussions rejected the proposal. Examination of Water Supply I / The Manager of the Wisbech and District Water Board has made available regular monthly summaries of routine bacterio¬ logical samples taken in the Borough in addition to v/hich the department has submitted v/ater samples to the Public Health Laboratory*, Peterborough for examination. The samples taken by the public health inspectors included mains waters from houses 9 offices <, caravan sites 9 shops and public taps. - : . .__ Raw Waters (at source) ' - - , No o of samples Coliforms Negative ] Positive Water Board Bacteriological vo VJI 188 7 The.Water Board carried out 30 chemical analyses of raw water at the source and these were satisfactory.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30286190_0016.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
