![Sedative, Analgesic. — Dose: 15—46 grn. (1.0—3.0 grm,). — Max. D.: 64 grn. (4.0 grm.) single; 2 dr. (8.0 grm.) pro die. Chloral Hydrate Merck. — P. B. — Loose Cryst., also Flakes. Dose: 5—30 grn. (0.3—2.0 grm.). — Max. D.: 48 grn. (3.0 grm.) single; I's dr. (6.0 grm.) daily. — Contba-indicated in infl.immation of stomach; large doses must not be given in heart disease; in children and the aged, use with caution. — Antidotes: Emetics, stomach siphon: cocaine hydrochlorate, strychnine, or atropine, hypodermi- cally; stimulants, oxygen, mucilage of acacia. — Incompatibles (Chemical): Carbolic acid, camphor, alcohol, potassium iodide. Chloral-ammonia Merck. White, cryst. powd.: chloral odor and taste. — Sol. in alcohol, ether; insol. in cold water; decomposed by hot water. — Hypnotic, Anal- gesic. — Uses: Nervous insomnia, neuralgia, etc. — Dose: 15—30 grn. (1.0—2.0 grm.). Chloralimide Merck. — (.A'ot: Chloralamide.) Colorl. needles; odorl.; tastel. — Sol. in alcohol, ether, chloroform, oils; insol. in water — Hypnotic, Analgesic. — Uses: Insomnia, head- ache, etc. — Dose: 15—.30 grn. (1.0—2 grm.), 2 or 3 t. daily. — Max. D.: 45 grn. (3A) grm.) single; 90 grn. (6,0 grm.) daily. Chloralose Merck. Small, colorl. cryst.; bitter, disagreeable taste. — Sol. in alcohol; slightly in water.—Hypnotic. — U.SES: Insomnia. Free from disa- greeable cardiac after-effects and cumulation tendency of chloral hydrate. Acts principally by reducing excitability of gray matter of brain. — Dose: ,3—10 grn. (0.2—0.6 grm.). Chlorodyne, — see Tinctuka Chlorofobmi et Morphinae co. Chlori Liquor, Solution of chlorine — P. H. 0.6 per cent. CL —Doi*; 10—20(0,6—1,2 cc.) in a wineglassful of water.-ANtt- DOTBf: Milk and albumen. Chloroform Merck. — Recryst. and Redistilled, for Anes- thesia. Dose: 3—8 iff (0.2—0.5 cc.). — Max. Never administer as anesthetic near a flame, as poisonous vapors (of decomposition products) form!
