The total live births registered during the year was 658, males 351 and females 367. This shows a deerease of 39 births when compared with the previous year. The birth rate was 13-7, whilst the figure for England and Wales was 14-7 per 1,U0U of the ])0])ulation. With the almost yearly reduction in the number of births the time cannot be far distant when the number of deaths will halauee the number of births and the natural increase of the population will be gone.
