![continued To meet the continually increasing; pressure for accom Pressure for J forCpSntstion m°dation, the number of Borough Patients has bee further slightly reduced. Considerable relief has also bee; obtained by the removal of 48 quiet and harmless Patient to their respective Workhouses. A circular was addressee to the Guardians of the different Unions, recommendin this course to be taken in case of those Patients who, i the opinion of Dr. Manley, might be easily and proper]: managed in the Workhouses. They were discharged, i| the first instance, for one month only, upon trial; but tl experiment proved successful, and it is satisfactory to yoi Committee to have thus provided space for the recepticj of many urgent cases, without parting with a large number of those chargeable to the Boroughs. In spite, however, of these arrangements, the Asylum j again full, and it is obvious that the Workhouses can, an; indeed, ought to be, available only to a limited extent i the way of relief. The whole subject of this tendency to over-crowding j of great importance, and will continue to receive tl anxious attention of your Committee.
