    0 From this table it will be observed that all the rates are specially satisfactory. The birth-rate, though still low, is higher than that of any other year since 1891. The death rate is the lowest but one ever recorded, and therefore much below the average, while the zymotic rate is less than half that of 1897. From this Table we see that our general death-rate is slightly below the average of the ten years.
