Spinckes, and the said H. Ridlington admitted there- I ipon ; and the said Hen. Ridlington thereupon got through ;he rails into the Chappel, and there openly read the ill certificate of his having subscribed to the Articles of the b dhurch of England, under the hand and seal of the Bishop (ii )f Lincoln ; and openly declared his conformity to the § Liturgy of the Church of England, as by law established, s: The said Dean then administered to the said H. Ridlington 0 'he Confrater’s oath, as by Statute directed, in the presence ] )f all the Gentlemen. The said Hen. Ridlington then came out of the Chappel, and with the Dean, Mr. Hurst, ca ind rest of the gentlemen, went again to the kitchen door, 1/here the Poor men were locked up. Upon which, the :)ean ordered them to come to the window and open it. The window being opened the aforesaid oath was again dministered in the presence of the Poor men, and the ertificate of conformity, &c., read, as in the Chappel, and he admission was also read to them under the hand and eal of Mr. Hurst, as Agent to Mr. Spinckes. .'1 “The key of the kitchen door being demanded of Dr. Itukeley, he refused to give it, and said he was the local n-governor of the place, and accountable to nobody but the qi Bishop of Lincoln.” J All this worry and indecent struggle proved useless.
