Therekoze they are farthett from true Renentance, that will not confelle, and ac⸗ knowledge their linnes noꝛ pet bewaile them, but rather doe moſt ungodly glozy, and re⸗ joyce in them. Mow leſt any man ſhould thin’ that repentance doth confit in outward weep⸗- ing, and mourning only, he doth rehearte that wherein the chief of the whole matter doth ive, when he laith, Rent pour hearts, and not pour garments, and turn unto the Loꝛd your God. Foz the people of the ECaſt part of the woꝛld were wont to rent their garments, ik any thing happened unto them that ſeemed intolerable, This thing did hypocrites fome- time counterfeit, and follow, as though the whole repentance did ſtand in uch outward geſture. Me teacheth then, that another man. ner of thing is required, that is. that they muſt be contrite in their hearts, that they muſt ut- terly deteſt, and abhoꝛre ſinnes, and being at deliance with them, return unto the Loꝛd their God, front whom they went away before. Foꝛ God hath no plealure in the outward cere⸗ heart; which he will never deſpiſe, as David doth teſtilie.
