    at the same temperatures were found to be alike at these different places; and therefore the factors may be considered as of general application. By the numbers in this Table the temperatures of the dew-point in the general tables have been calculated ; and these have been constantly checked by direct observations with DauiclFs Hygrometer, at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, till the present time 18G9. Expansion of Air from Heat. M. Regnault has determined that air expands part for every in- crease of 1° of heat. The following Table has been calculated using this value, considering a volume of air under the pressure of 30 inches of mercury and at the temperature of 32° as the unit of comparison.
