Seville, 6th November, 1583. £25 Don Francisco Perez Romero and his wife, Dofia Francisca de la Bezerra, residents of Seville, state that the coztadores | Treasurers | know that Cristoval de la Bezerra, the lady’s father, nas a 7uzo (1.e. an annuity assigned upon Crown revenue) on the duty of foods imported from America, payable at Seville; and now declare that they ceded their right to this 7u7o in 1577 in favour of Dofia Francisca Colon, wife of the Licentiate Ortegon (a member of the King’s Council and ozdor of ‘* Quito in the Indies ’’), and confirm the assignment. This Dofia Francisca de Colon was a grand-daughter of Christopher Columbus and ancestress of the later Dukes of Veraquas. . AFTER BLENHEIM. It urges upon the Elector the importance and necessity of providing money and stores, also a properly equipped army ready to take the field early the next year. (Trans.):—‘*. . . Most illustrious and noble prince, kinsman, and very dear friend, also your Serene Highness, Prince, brother, and very dear friend. It is sufficiently well known of how great importance it is to success in war that the army should be led into the field of battle in the early part of the year, equipped with all those things which are necessary to accomplish that which shall be to the common advantage. For so far from being able to accomplish something of those things which the practice of war demands if the soldiers remain in winter quarters unprepared, we may even by this means afford an opportunity to the enemy of falling upon us.
