    Buckingham (George Villiers, 2nd Duke of)—continued. the battle of Worcester, effected an escape more marvellous even than that of Charles II., and fled to the continent. Returning secretly to England, he married in 1657 the daughter of Lord Fairfax, to whom his forfeited estates had been assigned.
