![2, West Albert Road, Sefton Park, Liverpool, 26th April, 1897. Auditor’s Report. To the Visiting Committee of Mens ton County Asylum. Gentlemen, I have to report the completion of my Audit of the Accounts of your County Asylum for the year ended the 81st March, 1896, and to inform you I have certified the same appear to be correct and your expenditure legal. I desire, however, to submit for your Committee’s consideration a few observations in connection with the Accounts kept by your Clerk and Steward, viz. :— Provisions, Necessaries, and Clothing Books. The system upon which these Books of Account are at present kept cannot, in my opinion, be regarded as altogether satisfactory, and beg to suggest the desirability of these Books of Account being kept in future more in accordance with that in operation at Wakefield County Asylum. In some few instances the figures in these Books appear to have been based on Estimate, whilst the entries herein are confined to Quantities only. It was also necessary under your present system, in order to balance the Provisions Account at the end of each Quarter during the past year, to make the following entries therein in respect of Deficient Stock, viz. :— 1st Quarter. 2nd Quarter. 3rd Quarter. 4th Quarter.
