    PREFACE. The Law relating to the Adulteration of Food is now almost entirely contained in statutes. The natural arrangement, therefore, of any hook dealing with this subject is to take the statutes chronologically, and where necessary annotate the sections separately. In the design of the book I have throughout kept in view what mode of arrangement and treatment will be most useful to those who are concerned with the enforcement and administration of this branch of the law, whether members of the legal profession or local authorities and their officers. A complete collection of the Statutes and Cases will, I hope, be of assist- ance to Town and County Councils, Vestries, Analysts, Inspectors, &c., in dealing with cases of Adulteration of Food.
