With this View, and as a Beginning to fuch a Plan, I fhall now attempt to give you a ‘Defeription of the Mufcles of the Face ; ‘with fome Obfervations and Remarks, which I hope will appear curious to you, relating to their feparate as well as conjund Actions, and the Appearances of the Countenance that are the natural Effects of fuch Aétions; to- gether with accurate Drawings, which will ferve to their betcer Demontftration, and which ! chofe to lay before you, rather than a diffe@ted Head; as being, I am perfuaded, a much lefs agreeable Sight to many among us, than a fair Drawing. V. To proceed then: Let us confider thofe Mufcles in their Order, which chiefly ferve to form and move the Skin of the Face, or change the Countenance ;° which are thofe of the Forehead, Aba Evyes, ee Lips, and Cheeks.
