![To the Chairman of the Ru ral District Council. Sir. ]ii presenting this Annu;il ileport it is necessary to point out that a certain amount of repetition of matters dealt with in former Eeports will be found, on account of the Eeport having to be submitted to various bodies, some of whom are unfamiliar with the Sanitary history of the Tdistrict. Tlie total number of deaths registered in this Eural Sanitary District for the year ending 31st December, lt)05, was 399, as compared with dGT in tlie preceding year. The deaths under one year of age amount to 74, equal to 18-5 per cent, of tlie total deaths ; and those over Go years of age to 102 (or 25 0 per cent.), compared to 128 in 1904. It will be seen from these figures that the infant mortality continues to shew a low rate, which is a very satisfactory featui'e. Tlie following tal)le shews the total numbei- of deaths for each of the last ten years, together with the cori-esponding rate per Year Deaths Rate per looo 1896 341 t • 15-2 1897 376 16-3 1898 414 ... 18 1899 394 « • « 17-1 1900 432 • • • 17-2 1901 423 • • • 17T 1902 438 • ♦ • 17-7 1903 414 16'7 1904 467 18-9 1905 399 lG-1 he above ta])le it will l)e seen that tlie death-1‘ate he population i s IG-1, which is the 1 owest rate reco during the last nine years.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b29098865_0047.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
