Twenty-seyen Slaughter-houses were inspected during the year, all of which were found in a good sanitary condition. Forty-seven banal Boats Avere inspected, and in connection with these, six formal notices were served by the Sanitary Authority, and in five cases the nuisance Avas abated after notice. The night-soil is removed by contract in Cheadle, and TTOd ash-pits and privies Avere cleansed by the Sanitary Authoilty’s scavenger during the year, under the supervision of the Sanitary Inspectoi’. Some complaints have been made regarding the night-soil being removed during the day time, and it certainly Avould be much better if it were arranged tliat the removal should be carried out at night, as the daj^-removal creates more or less of a nuisance. Tavo notices Avere served in connection Avitli the deposit of refuse aud manure, and these Avere l)oth abated. TAventy-three inspections of av.c.’s Avere made. In connection Avith house-drainage, the Inspector reports having made thirtA-tAVO inspections, and nuisances being found in connection Avith all of these, formal notice Avas served and the nuisance in each case Avas abated. Forty-three other faults in connection Avitli house-drainage were found. Tavo inspections of Pig-sties resulted in the serving of notice in each case. In tAVO cases animals were found improperly hept. and the nuisance was abated after notice. Forty-one other nuisances were dealt with during t]ie juvar. A carcase of a pig was seized by the Sanitary Inspector at Cookshill, on the olst March.
