Thus he urged on their labour: and at times would have coins thrown to the masons when especially they worked to his satisfaction. Thus the building went on day and night until at la¿t a time came when it had perforce to ¿top—as was also the case in the matter of making the ¿treet [for the new bazaar]—on account of the winter snows which began now constantly to fall. On Friday the iát of November we went to present ourselves before his Highness, as he had enjoined on us to do, hoping that he would give us licence to depart on our homeward journey, and we found him lodging in the palace beside the Mosque that had been rebuilt according to his order, and where, as already said, the works were ¿topped in progress. We Stayed waiting his pleasure from the early morning until midday, when his Highness appearing from a tent that was pitched here came forth and took his seat on a dais in the courtyard. Hither they now brought sufficient meats and fruit, of which all present amply partook, but when the meal was over his Highness sent to tell us to go home, for that day we muSf excuse his not receiving us in farewell audience as he had much other business to transad; namely with his grandson Pir Muhammad, who was the Prince already spoken of as being the King of India, and who was shortly returning to his government from which he had lately come to see his grandfather.
