![INFECTIOUS DISEASES. The following beds are provided in hospitals administered by the Regional Hospital Board:— Crabwood Smallpox Hospital 8 beds for suspicious and confirmed cases. Southampton Chest Hospital 56 beds for infectious cases 118 beds for tuberculosis cases. The following table shows details of infectious notifications and the number of cases removed to hospital. Of ir the notified cases, 40 occurred in an outbreak affecting staff and a II few patients in a general hospital. The infectious agent was Salm. il anatum, and there was no definite evidence that the infection was i] acquired through food. The other 7 notified cases were one single case and 3 family outbreaks, the infectious agents not being ;i identified. The 48 cases not notified included: (i) 11 cases in 4 family outbreaks, due to Salm. typhi-murium; (ii) 7 cases in 1 family outbreak, due to Salm. ihompson; (iii) 2 cases in 1 family outbreak, due to Salm. enleritidis: (iv) 6 cases in 2 family outbreaks, agent not identified; (v) 2 cases in 1 family outbreak and 12 cases in one other outbreak, due to staphylococcal toxin.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30118323_0011.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
