Asks whether, in the light of new evidence, Britain should change its attitude to those who ask 'Do you mind if I smoke?'. Looking at second hand smoking (passive smoking) and the scientific evidence to support the evidence to of its harm. George aged 65 is a non-smoker, has emphysema needing permanent oxygen. He worked in a pub all his life. A woman who has smoked during in pregnancy has a child with a permanent cough. Smoking at the time of making the film was permitted in offices and public buildings until 2007 (unlike in Canada). Lung biopsies indicate the danger. The clinicians treating George indicate the cause of his emphysema is secondary smoking from the pub. The mother is asked by her doctor to stop smoking for the health of her children. The programme runs a study for non-smokers in a pub for 7 hours; it is proven that these non-smokers have been exposed to the carcinogens in cigarettes. The charity Action on Smoking briefly appears.
