During the year 2 consignments of meat products were landed vjithout Official Certificates of Inspection and were detained; in one case Statutory Notices forbidding further removal, except for purposes of re-exportation, being served in accordance v/ith the Regiulations, The necessarjT- documents were, however, later produced and in these circumstances the meat products v/ere released. {2) Shell-fish; Report of any action taken under the public Health l^ell-'flsh) Regi^rat'io'n'sV 19'54 and 1948. There are no shell-fish beds or layings within the jurisdiction of this Authority. •(^) Number of Samples of Food examined by: (a) Bacteriologist: Nil. Analyst; 5 samples. Nature of Saraple. Result of Analysis. Dates. Free from infestation, sulphur dioxide and fum- igating compounds. Canned Luncheon Meat. Preservatives absefit and no metallic or - chemical contamination. The gel- atine was sound, and there v\?as no evolution of gas on opening. Salami. Had a definitely musty odour not only on the out- side but also in the in- terior of the product. No evidence of the mould having penetrated tlirough the skin of the sausage and the fat gives no evidence at all of rancidity. Preservatives absent. Remarks. The sample passes as gen uine. The sample called for no adverse re- marks.
