He does not give the Houfe credit evey fer common underftanding, for he afferts, that their arguments were mere echoes of the Report, which Report, in point of hiftorical fact was incorreét; and that their further information could only be derived from ftatements which were confidered ag the exaggerated account of friends to the pecus niary interefis of the petition, Here is juftice and candor with a vengeance! But how will Dr. Pears fon defend himfelf when I tell him, that Mr. Banks, whom he fo much extols at the expence of his col leagues, was the very gentleman who drew up the Report, and who filled the Chair after Admiral Berkeley had quitted it through indilpofition. This is a circumftance, I prefume, that Dr. Pearfon muft have been entirely ignorant of, from his fes vere cenfure of it, and the compliments he payg Mr. Banks, whilft the opinions of the other mem= bers are treated with fuch contempt.
