![During the year one house was disinfected, this following notifica- tion of tuberculosis. Five schools were disinfected as precautionary measures on occasions through the year. Three-hundred-and-ninety-five specimens were submitted to the Public Health Laboratory for examination for typhoid, salmonella, or dysentery groups; 4 for poliomyelitis; 2 for food poisoning and one for tuberculosis. TUBERCULOSIS SERVICES The Chest Clinic, Lees Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, is now administered by the Regional Hospital Board, though certain aspects of this work, more particularly the domiciliary visiting of cases and contacts, come within the domain of the Local Health Authority’s Medical Officer (the Divisional Medical Officer for Health Division No. 17). The times for attendance at the Clinic are as follows:— Tuesdays 1.30 p.m. Wednesdays Fridays . . . . 9.30 a.m. 9.30 a.m. Also the 2nd and 4th Wednesday in every month (for old patients and by appoint- ment only) ' 6.00 p.m. A clinic for children only is held on Friday afternoon from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m. MID WIVES There are four Lancashire County Council Midwaves practising within the district, viz:— Mrs. H.
