    [ 2* ] I have now examined moft of your Remarks, yet I confefs that fome of them are abfolutely unanfwerable ;—thofe, Sir, alone are they which are utterly unintelligible; and to conclude, if I am not as much miftaken, as you were, when in fpeaking of the Forceps, you mi/took the Child's Head for their Centre of Motion, all your Views centre in yourfelf; though even that part of your defign you have executed but very indifferently, for your Style is clumly, ai- fuming, and pedantic ; your Objections are frivolous and unfairly urged, and your Aflertions, though pofitive, and highly expreflive of felf-importance, are unfupported by reafoning or matter of fa£t. —In a word, confidering the air of exultation with which you fet out, it may be laid with great juftice and truth, that the whole of your performance is mofl pompoufy poor indeed. You tell us, that you pay great regard to Dr. Leake's Abilities ; I wifh I could with a fafe confcience lav as much for you ; for if I was difpofed to compliment you on your abilities, your candour muff fuller; and if 1 had an opinion of your candour, it mu ft ne- ceflarily be at the expence of your Abilities.
