![WYE HOUSE ASYLUM, * BUXTON, DERBYSHIRE. * AN ESTABLISHMENT FOR THE CARE AND TREATMENT OF THE INSANE OF THE HIGHER AND MIDDLE CLASSES. RESIDENT PHYSICIAN AND PROPRIETOR— F. K. DICKSON, F.U.C.P. & F.R.C.S.Edin. ERECTED IN 1861 BY HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE. THIS Institution has been established for the reception of patients of BOTH SEXES of the Higher and Middle Classes, for whom it is admirably adapted by its position and appoint- ments. . It is erected on an eminence surrounded with scenery of the most varied character, and the views from the House and Terrace extend over many miles of picturesque country. The House is furnished throughout on the most liberal scale, and fitted up and arranged to resemble as much as possible an ordinary dwelling-house, with Bath-rooms and every necessary convenience. The Proprietor lives in the House, and is assisted in his duties by a Resident House Surgeon and an experienced Lady Superintendent. The House is heated throughout by means of hot-water apparatus, and is well and thoroughly ventilated. Buxton is situated on the Mountain Limestone Formation, at an elevation of 1,000 feet above the level of the sea, and is accessible by Railway from Manchester and Liverpool by Stockport, or by the Great Northern and Midland Railways vid Ambergate and Derby. It is also connected by Telegraph with all parts of the Kingdom, Particulars of Terms and Forms of Admission can be obtained on application to the Resident Physician.
