Ilurino the vear 10 eases were notified as against 11 in 1947. I he incidence was greatest in the West and Primrose and Monkton Wards, where six cases were notified. \o deaths were recorded. Immunisation continued during the vear, the material being obtained horn the Central Public Health Laboratory, Newcastle. I'nder 5 years 760 5—lr» years S 768 During the year 72,000 units ol antitoxin were distributed to the medical practitioners ot the Borough. 3. Pneumonia. 119 notifications were received in 1948 as compared with 55 in 1947, the majority ol cases occurring during the winter months. The greatest number ol cases were lound to be in the Last Ward. 28 notifi- cations related to children under the age ol one vear, in comparison with 12 for the previous year. Nursing lacilitics wen again available at Primrose Isolation Hos- pital lor the care ol pneumonia eases. 4 Puerperal Pyrexia. 3 notifications were received during the vear, one case being admitted to the Isolation Hospital. 5 Erysipelas. 8 notifications were received during the year, a decrease of 3 on the previous year. No cases were admitted to the Isolation Hospital and no deaths were recorded. 6. Measles.
