![[ 3© ] — it ftill continues in this City, and fometimes fhews itfelf in the Villages about it, though at prefent with fo mild an Afped, as feldom to prove fatal; unlefs the Subjed is very unfavourable, or the Difeafe hath been negleded, or improperly treated at the Be¬ ginning ; which Circumflances, tho’ of feme Importance in all Cafes, yet are of the ut- mod in this; as a wrong Step at the fir ft may put it out of the Power of Art to af¬ ford Relief. Tho5 this Difeafe has now been among id us feveral Years, and has confequently furvived the different Seafons, and all the Variety of Weather to which we are expofed, yet it feems to fhew itfelf mod frequently in Au¬ tumn, and the Beginning of Winter ; at leaft I have met with many more Cafes from Sep¬ tember to T)ecember inclufive, than in all the other Months together. It may likewife be remark'd, that the Summers of 1747 and 1748 were dry, with fome Days in each uncommonly hot, for this what he has feen, and that in fuch a manner as he thought would heft contribute to public Advantage.
