![. t«.] Nitrous cooling Medicines frequently pro¬ duce the like Effedts; they increafe that Faint- nefs which accompanies this Difeafe, and either difpofe the Patient to copious finking Sweats, or to Stools. Upon the whole, it appears, that all Eva¬ cuations which tend to leffen the natural Strength of the Confutation, are in this'Dif¬ eafe injurious; and that thofe Perfons in common are in the greateft Danger, if at* tacked with it, who have been previoufly in- difpofed, or have had their Strength impair d by Grief, or any other Accident. Of which it may not perhaps be improper to relate an Inftance or two in this Place, as it will alfo tend to explain the ufual Progrefs of the Symptoms in the word; Cafes we meet with. A young Gentlewoman about 26 Years of Age, of a pale lax Habit, but of an adtive chearful Difpofition, had enjoy’d a pretty good Share of Health in common, till a Year or two before her laft Illnefs; about that time fhe unhappily made ufe of fame exter¬ nal and empirical Application to remove 3 Rednefs attended with Pimples, which now* and-then broke out in her Face, She was foon relieved from this Complaint by the Medicine fhe ufed; but was quickly after feized with Sicknefs, Vomiting, Lofs of Ap¬ petite* and either an obftinate Coftivenefs, F a ot](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30546266_0053.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
