![[70] fel is therefore large, the Bleeding may prov£ fatal to the Patient in a very fhort time; or if he efcapes for the prefent, the Lofs of a confiderable Quantity of Blood at this time of the Difeafe, will occafion various ill Con~ fequences* It is therefore abfolutely neceffary to eii- deavour to flop this Difcharge with all the Expedition poffible. If the Patient is coftive, it will be of life to procure Relief in this refpedt, by Clyfters or Suppofitories, as foon as can be done: To apply Vinegar, by mean§ of Tents or otherwife, as near to the Orifice of the Veffel as we can: To convey the Steam of it into the Fauces and Noftrils plentifully, and to keep the Patient in a fitting Pofture, or his Head raifed as high as may be, and his upper Parts moderately cool: If thefe Methods don't immediately take EfFedt, Re- courfe muft be had to more efficacious ones, amongft which we may rank the Bark and Opium. It is not uncommon for hedtic Heats, Night-Sweats, Want of Appetite, and Dejec¬ tion of Spirits to attend thofe a confiderable time, who have had the Difeafe in a fevere manner. Affes Milk commonly relieves them, together with a Decodiion of the Bark3 and Elixir Vitrioli.
