SECTION XIV The Order made by the Authority under the Public Health (Shellfish) Regulations, 1934 and 1948, came into operation on the 11th September, 1947 The area covered by the Order is:— The area of the River Blyth lying between the High Water marks on either side of the River and extending from the mouth of the River to a point where the Railway Bridge of the British Railways crosses the River. SECTION XV Medical Inspection of Aliens This is not an approved Port for the landing or inspection of Aliens. The number of Aliens who arrived at the Port was 29 (see Table C, Section III). On two occasions during the Year the German vessel M.V.“ADLER” arrived in the Port from Hamburg with Machinery for the Blyth Dry Docks and Shipbuilding Co. 50 passengers were carried on the first visit en route for Leith and 36 on the second. The vessel was cleared at Blyth and the necessary medical facilities provided for passengers wishing to disembark here. This included the medical examination of aliens carrying Ministry of Labour work permits who intend to reside and work in Britain for some period. SECTION XVI Miscellaneous Mortuary Up to date mortuary facilities are provided by the Blyth Borough Council. Where death has been due to infectious diseases, the body will be removed to this mortuary and the necessary instructions issued to those responsible for burial. Where the relatives cannot undertake the burial arrangements the onus will rest on Blyth Borough Council or Bedlingtonshire U.D.C. in accordance with the National Assistance Act, 1948.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30037591_0012.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
