![INTRQDUGTIO N] Chrift-Church, confecrated bilhop of Brittol, and made Almoner 1713. He died 1719, aged 57, and was buried in the cathedral ot Chrift-Church, where he who defires to know his cha¬ racter may read his epitaph. He Was fucceeded in his deanry of Ghrift-Church and bifhopnc of Brittol by XXIII. Hugh Boulter, D. D. fellow of Magdalen college, Oxford, archdeacon of Surrv, confecrated 15 Nov. 1714, tranfiated to the archbifhopric of Armagh in Ireland 1724, where he died in Sept. 1742. .. . i r 5, : , . XXIV. William Bradfhaw, D. D. fometime fellow of New college, prebendary of Canter¬ bury, fucceeded to the deanry and bifhopric of Brittol, confecrated 18 Odt. 1724, and dying at Bath 16 Dec. 1732, aet. 80, was there buried. r. The honourable and reverend Charles Cecil, LL.D. of the noble family of the earls of Salifbury, reCtor of Hatfield, was confecrated bilhop of Brittol 25 Feb. 1732, tranfiated to Bangor 1734, and died 1737. ••fib >. ic c : XXVI. Thomas Seeker, LL.D. reCtor of St. James’s Weftminfter, proceeded to the degree of LL.D. from Exeter college, Oxford, 1733, was confecrated bilhop of Brittol, 19 Jan. 1734, tranfiated to Oxford 1737, fucceeded Dr. Hutton in the archiepifcopai feat of Canterbury 1758, and died 3 Aug. 1768. ~ XXVII. Thomas Gooch, D. D. matter of Gonvil and Caius college, vice-chancellor of Cambridge, confecrated bilhop of Brittol 12 July, 1737, tranfiated to Norwich 1738, and thence to Ely 1747* XXVIII. Jofeph Butler, LL. D. of Oriel college, Oxford, confecrated bilhop of Brittol 3 Dec. 1738, dean of St. Paul’s 1740, tranfiated to Durham 1750, died 1752, buried in the cathedral at Brittol. • XXIX. John Conybeare, D. D. fellow and reeftor of Exeter college, dean of Chritt-Church on the death of Bradlhaw, one of his predecefiors in the fee of Brittol, was confecrated 1750, died 13 July, 1755? and buried at Brittol. XXX. John Hume, D. D. of Corpus Chritti college in Oxford, reftor of Barnes in Surry, confecrated bilhop of Brittol 1756, tranfiated to Oxford 1758, made dean of St. Paul’s, now lord bilhop of Sarum. XXXI. Philip Yonge, D. D. ele<5ted from Weftminfter to Trinity college in Cambridge, matter of Jefus college in that univerfity, canon relidentiary of St. Paul’s, confecrated bilhop of Brittol 28 June, 1758, tranfiated to Norwich 1761.
