![[ ] Head, and not have Hiccoughs, burning Heats, Thirds, and Fa:tor of the Mouth, common to high living. A Cold Bath. He advifes it in an Afthma, and condemns all hot Regimens in that Diltcmper, bids the Patient to fhave often, wafh the Head ,• to drink cold Water in a Morning, and ufe a total lmmerfion only once a Fortnight. Dr. Baynard commends the hot Baths of Somerfetjhire, as of wonderful Efficacy : A friendly Fomentation, a natural Sal Volatile, that relieves and cures Diftempers, both of Relaxation and Contraction. The Weft-India Gripes, Chotics, Aphonia, Agues, Cramps, ftiff Joints, Fluor AMs, paralytic'k and waft¬ ing Limbs, Scorbutick Atrophies, and to be fpecirical in Difeafes of the Liver. They contain a volatile Vitriolick Gas, (feen in their changing Purple with Gauls, Oak Leaves, Tea, or any auftere Alkaiy,) which is loft, if carried elfewhere. Their in¬ ward Ufe is Drinking them hot at the Place: augmenting the Quantities by Degrees, con¬ tinuing them a great while together, and un¬ der a Regularity of Diet; forbearing eating, or fwallowing any other Liquid, till they are pafs’d. At Dinner, he allows a Glafs of Wine.
