    several reports, still continue, and these, with a liberal supply of periodicals, &c., keep the reading-room well stocked ; a con¬ stant source of information and amusement is thus afforded all those inclined to avail themselves of it. The keeping in hand our new farm at Herrison has made us more than usually busy in agricultural work; this has been cheerfully performed by the patients, and there is every reason for anticipating a fair profit from its produce. Many alterations will be found necessary, but must be deferred till the new Asylum is built. The distance for our patients to walk there and back to work, the want of suitable accom¬ modation for them for meals, or when overtaken with wet weather, &c., is much felt, but when the site is fixed on for the farm buildings, these little discomforts may readily be avoided. With great pleasure 1 have to notice the uniformly good conduct, &c., of all the attendants, nurses, and servants; not one serious fault have I had occasion to remark during the past year, and when it is remembered how much is entrusted to them, and how greatly the patients* recovery, under their care may be accelerated or retarded by their kindness or otherwise, I cannot help expressing my earnest wish that nothing may prevent their continuing in the service of the county, some of whom have already lived here 3, 6, 7, 10, and several upwards of 14 years. In conclusion, I beg you to accept my grateful thanks for the constant and uniform kindness and assistance ever afforded me. I am, with sincere respect, Your faithful and obliged servant, J.
