One of the players is a sensual priest rho is trying to pour the contents of two bottles into a unch bowl at the same time. This etching represents Vine, Women and Gambling. 4. An old procuress is demonstrating the charms of a pung, innocent-looking girl to an old libertine, who is inking at the girl through an eyeglass. 5. Five firemen are endeavouring to extinguish a fire at a touse from which a very corpulent old woman is escaping, rith some domestic utensils under her skirts. The firemen iratch her with lustful expressions. 6. ' Leda and the Swan.' In the background another wan is pursuing a nude woman. 7. A youth and a girl sitting on a bench. The youth has lis hand on the girl's clothes. | 8. ' Cricket Match at the Three Hats, Islington.' The *ame is played by women of all shapes and sizes, who 3xert their energies in a comic manner. This drawing is full of life and humour, and is characteristic of the style of this great artist. Apart from his erotic and obscene cartoons, Rowlandson at the end of the eighteenth and the first thirty years of the nineteenth century was what Hogarth had been in the first half of the eighteenth century, namely, a great ' portrayer of the morals of his age. All the manifestations of the public and social life of his age are represented in his work as an artist.
