![the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows :— I. [King’s College and Marischal College, Aberdeen, to be united under title of “ University of Aberdeen.”]—That from and after such date as may be fixed by the Commissioners hereinafter appointed by special Ordinance, approved by Her Majesty in Council the “ University and King’s College of Aberdeen,” and “ MarischalCol- lege and University of Aberdeen,” shall be united and incorporated into one University and College, in all time coming thereafter, under the style and title of the “University of Aberdeen and the said united University shall take rank among the Universities of Scot¬ land as Irom the date of erection of King’s College and University viz. the year One thousand four hundred and ninety-four, and all the funds, properties, and revenues now pertaining or belonging in any manner of way to the “ University and King’s College!” or to Mai ischal College and University,” shall in time coming thereafter pertain and belong to the “ University of Aberdeen.” II. [Appointment of Chancellors.]—The Chancellor of each of the Universities of St. Andrews, Glasgow, and Aberdeen shall be ap¬ pointed m the same manner as at present; and in time coming there shall be a Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, to be appointed by Her Majesty : Provided always, that the present Chancellor of the University and King s CoHege of Aberdeen, and the present Chan¬ cellor of Marischal College and University of Aberdeen, shall, during their joint lives, be joint Chancellors of the University of Aberdeen and the survivor shall be sole Chancellor during his survivance, and thereafter a Chancellor shall be appointed in manner herein provided* «at ^Chancellor of each of the said Universities shall hold his office for life. UU [ University Courts to be constituted.]—From and after the date at which this Act shall come into operation, there shall be con¬ stituted in each of the said Universities a University Court, which f . c°fsist 0± the members and possess and exercise the powers hereinafter enacted and of which the Rector shall be the ordinary i resident, with a deliberative and a casting vote. q !V' [Pmferf °fthe Senatus Accidemicus and PrincipaU—ThQ benatus Academicus of each of the said Universities shall consist of the 1 nncipal or Principals and whole Professors in each University, and shall continue to possess and exercise the powers heretofore belonging to a Senatus Academicus, m so far as the same are not modified or alte?ed by or in pursuance of the provisions of this Act; and the Principal or the Senior Principal, if more than one, shall be the ordinary Pre- sfficnt of the Senatus Academicus, with a deliberative and a casting e , and the X rmcipal shall have the constant and ordinary inspec- tion of the Professors in the discharge of their duties, with power at all times to superintend and visit the several classes, and shall be bound to visit each class not less than tivice each session. .
