Old World cutaneous leishmaniasis: skin lesion

This is a low power view of a skin section from a Leishmania tropica infection. There is hyperkeratosis (increased thickness of keratin) and the epidermis is evenly thickened. There is a perivascular chronic inflammatory infiltrate in the dermis. H&E stain.
