WE always began with bleeding, which was repeated feveral times during the firft three or four days ; that is, as long as the pains were violent, pulfe hard and full, and the delirium high: but as foon as the fpitting commenced, we left it off. The blood taken away was from a large orifice, and in the beginning in great quan- tity ; for it was found that very often one co- pious bleeding in thefe circumftances, with the addition of blifters, was fufficient, and gave a favourable turn to the difeafe.
