![]9 Infantile Mortality. 652 or 21 i)er cent, of the total deaths were those of children under one year of age, equal to an infantile mortality of 145 per 1,000 births, and a death-rate per 1,000 of the poi^ulation of 3'5, lower than the average for 1896—1905, which was 162. The average for the 76 great towns was 127. It will be noticed that the infantile mortality was as much as 240 in Exchange Ward, 195 in East Ward, and 186 in Bradford Ward.
