![Closet Accommodation. During the year 1907, there were 680 conversions of old 2^i'ivy- middens or j^ails into water-closets, and seven demolitions of the same type of closet in connection with insanitary jjroperty. From 1899—1907 inclusive, 4743 closets have been converted at a cost to the Coriroration of .£9413, and replaced by water-closets, and 155 have been demolished. In Public Houses during the same period 118 water-closets were added for customers; in the Public Elementary Schools 94 have been jjrovided, and 745 fresh-water closets and 110 pails in factories and workshops, where also 32 cesspools were abolished. That is in nine years, a total of 5700 closets have been provided on the water-carriage system, in addition to those jDrovided in new houses, viz., 5078.
