Mr. XJrbajt, IF the inclofed account of the weather fhould appear to be not unworthy of a place in the Magazine, nor be difapproved of by the inge- nious part of the faculty, it will induce me to proceed in furnifhing fome fhort remarks of the like nature once a month, whilfl: health and lei- sure permit. I fhall fay nothing at prefent of my motives to this eftay, or infill upon its uti- lity. I fhall only obferve, that the barometer I ufe is a good one; and the thermometer is graduated by Fahrenheit’s fcale, and made by a workman of eftablifhed character: it is fufpended at about two inches dillance from the wainfcot, in a room where no fire is ever kept, nor does the fun lliine into any part of it above two hours in a day, nor then within fome yards of the thermo- meter; above it is a wide ftaircafe, and a door opens out of the room where it is placed into an airy court alrnolt every half hour in the day.
