The Chest Clinic held at the Royal East Sussex Hospital, three sessions per week, continues to be the focal point for investigation and treatment and for the surveillance of contacts. Sanatorium cases go in the main to Darvell Hall Sanatorium, Robertsbridge, and terminal cases to various hospitals including the tuberculosis blocks of the Hastings Isolation Hospital. Close liaison exists between the Health Department and the Chest Clinic : the department provides a health visitor to act as nurse at the clinic sessions and to carry out all the tuberculosis home visiting and ascertainment and follow-up of contacts.
