About this work

Description

Cryptosporidiosis: Cryptosporidium parvum parasites in the liver. This is a high power view of a liver biopsy from a patient with HIV infection. Two bile ducts are seen in transverse section. Large numbers of cryptosporidia (very small, pink, round organisms) are present in the epithelium of the ducts. The cryptosporidia appear to lie on the surface of the epithelium, but they are in fact intracellular. H&E stain.
