    Of tlie 109 deaths 32 were ascribed to General Paralysis, eight to Epilepsy, 18 to Pulmonary Consumption, and four to General Debility and Old Age, the remainder to various other causes specified in Table No. 0. The percentage of recoveries on the admissions was 35*01, that of deaths, calculated upon the total number under treatment, 8*47. Although upwards of 300 fresh cases were taken in during the year still we were obliged to refuse admission, for want of room, to many. The numbers received since the opening of the Asylum sixteen years ago amount to 4,252, 254 of which have been re-admissions. Of these 1507, or 36*8 per cent, have been discharged recovered. 103, or 3*8 ditto ditto relieved. 343, or 8*1 ditto ditto not improved. 1190, or 28 per cent, have died. The Hospital for infectious and contagious diseases, the erection of which was sanctioned by the Court of Adjourned Annual Session in June last, and which has been built on the most picturesque part of the grounds, is fast approaching com¬ pletion. Some of the bedrooms have been for the last thre weeks occupied at night by about twenty male Patients, under the care of three Attendants, in order that fires might be kept
