Froben. 1521) y* At the foot of the title is the inscription “Ad usum fratris Richardi Risby,” most probably in the autograph of Risby, who was the warden of the Friars Observant at Canterbury, and the accomplice of Elizabeth Barton, the “Holy Maid of Kent,” and executed with her and others at Tyburn in 1534. 955 Brnpinc. Leonicus) De varia historia Libri IJI nuper in lucem editi, woodcut device on title and at end, in original binding of wooden boards and brown calf, by Henry Jacobi, Bookseller and Binder, stamped with panels ; on front side: the Tudor rose between two scrolls held by angels, inscribed “ Hec rosa virtutis,” etc. at foot the binder’s trade mark and initials H.I.; on end side: large arms of England (Henry VITT) quartered with France, supporting a dragon and hound, with initials H.
