    CHAPTER 11. HILL-DIAREHCBA. \ This distressing complaint as a rule makes its appearance in the early part of tbe season; begining often as soon as May, Tbe causes of tbis diarrhoea are not very clearly defined. Dr. R. Lidderdale, Sani- tary Commissioner of Bengal, informs me, that he can recollect tbe time when Darjee- ling claimed that it was tbe only bill sta- tion free from it. About tbe year 1874 or 1875, tbe first bad year occurred, and nearly everyone suffered in tbe station from it. And also on tbe tea gardens as far apart as Soom and Hope Town.
