Ante-Natal Hygiene It is satisfactory to report tliat this subject is receivinf>f greater attention by expectant mothers and niidwiA^es. 1,840 or 86.7 per cent, of the expectant mothers were under the observation of the staff; this figure is above the percentages for 1949, which was 81.9 per cent. 52 new Expectant Mothers attended the Centres in addition to 37 on the hooks at the end of last year; those requiring medical advice were referred to their own doctors, or they attended at the Clinic. The attendances of these mothers were: At the Clinic, 9,017; at Centres, 136; Tota,l, 9,153. 187 visits by Health Visitors were paid to Expectant mothers at their homes. The work at the Centres consists of medical advice and instruction in infant hygiene generally. Every opportunity is taken to have personal talks with mothers on health matters.
